    2. 5+Predivna saga koja donosi priču o ambicioznoj Elizabeth, razmaženoj Amber i vanbračnoj Caitlin, kćerkama Williama Melvillea i nasljednicama modnog carstva Mellvill.

    3. What this cover says: "Look, I'm a YA novel about genteel family drama. I haz tender feels. You can trust me."What this book actually is: "FUCK YOU, BITCHES! I'm all 80s-big-hair & soapy glitter trash. I'm 100% adult. You know you want it, & you want it hard."Soere's this guy, William Melville, whose family owns an established, quintessentially English Preppy fashion empire named (shockers!) Melville. And one day William decides to have an affair with an Irish shopgirl named Katie. It do [...]

    4. I could not put this one down.I loved the characters of all sisters. I couldnt tell you which one was my favourite out of Caitlin and Elizabeth, both were completely different characters but very likeable and you wanted them both to work things out and be happy. What I liked about this was how human the characters felt not just the sisters, but the other family members, the husbands etc. They all made mistakes, whether it was trusting the wrong person, or having an affair but it also showed how [...]

    5. This was a really interesting novel. The author clearly took her time creating a very rich and complex world for the Melville family. It was really rich and in depth and the characters were fleshed out extremely well. It really was a pleasure to read this. 4 stars.

    6. Daughters of Fortune is a sprawling saga about the two Melville sisters, Elizabeth and Amber, and their half-sister Caitlyn, born as a result of their father's infidelity. The novel covers decades of their lives, from childhood through to becoming strong, successful women. This is going to be a gushing review. Sure, the book will never win the Pulitzer prize. It will never be held up as a literary classic. But, as an example of the bonkbuster/family saga genre, it is vastly superior to many of th [...]

    8. So, I read Daughters of Fortune by Tara Hyland quite a while ago. My feelings about this novel are somewhat mixed. I can't say I disliked it, but I found it lacking in some ways. Well, the best way I can describe this feeling is by explaining the way I experience books in general. I tend to divide fiction in two categories, real literature and non-literature fiction writing. Literatury masterpieces are something I appreciate on basis of their own literary merit, so even if they don't touch me de [...]

    10. Originally, I picked this book up for a bit of light summer reading. However, parts of this book did not make me feel light and happy (what summer reading should do). Here's what you need to know:1. Despite the cover this is not a "Gossip Girl" type book. 2. Somewhat surprising and interesting plot but if you think about it, you could probably guess it.3. There are a ton of characters.4. The characters are all interesting and unique.5. There are some dark parts.6. You definitely want to get to t [...]

    11. I believe this is a must-read. The story and writing are fast paced, wonderfully accomplished and each page involves you within the proseos:-writing-caitlin-katie-elizabeth-Lucien- the plotcons:-the only reason I did not give five stars was the fact that thr book does not prepare you for what happens at the beginning it‘s not a fairytalethough it ends well, it is very realistic

    13. The Melville sisters might have money but does it always lead to happiness? Eldest daughter Elizabeth is determined to succeed in her family’s business, despite the fact her father and owner William Melville doesn’t seem to be very supportive of her plans. Elizabeth isn’t about to back down but is she one to work behind the scenes without the glory?Amber isn’t blessed with the business brains of her sister, but has the looks to carry her through. Amber doesn’t have any plans to work fo [...]

    14. SLIGHT SPOILERSI am in love with this book. It was so amazing and delightful to watch the three daughters of William Melville grow and mature throughout their experiences. (view spoiler)[Even if Amber's birth was to save Isabelle, Edward was to save Cole and Elizabeth (hide spoiler)] I loved that this book was from all three point of views. Caitlin is easily my favorite but I am also fond of Amber and Elizabeth. Oh, Amber, I felt so bad for you when you were blind to see what Johnny was really d [...]

    16. I am currently reading this book and I just can't put it down. There are many subjects covered in this book so far. It deals with family issues like divorce of parents, new step sisters. Also, loss of someone you truly love and care about like your mother. The struggle to abandon the previous life style to enter in a new, progressive, and truly different society. It is interesting to me so far to understand why and how people commit mistakes. The reason or the force that drives them toward these [...]

    18. I devoured this book - it's a very well thought out, in depth saga of a wealthy family in the fashion world. Not the type of book I would normally gravitate to, but I seriously could not put it down. Can't wait to see what Tara Hyland comes up with next!

    19. I would say 3.5. I liked this book in a guilty pleasure sense. It was easy to read, not completely shocking but I was entertained. I wasn't particularly fond of the male characters. I feel like they were stereotypical and not fully developed and the women's "issues" weren't dealt with realistically but hey, I read it all and am checking to see if Hyland has published anything else.

    20. Gostei bastante do livro.

    21. Good readNot my usual genre. An easy read even though it keeps jumping between the three sisters. I like the way it is divided into parts

    25. This book was great, although tragic. I didn't know if I'd like it much because of the incredibly depressing start, but it turned out fine in the end and was a delight to read. The back cover synopsis explains that one of the sisters come into the world of the other sisters when she's older and not really accepted. The book chronicles the story from that point onward, through plenty of drama, tragedy, acceptance and eventually, family healing.A sappy book this is not - there are plenty of horrib [...]

    26. Daughters of Fortune is written in four different parts ranging between the years 1974 and 2004. The story starts off with Caitlin's mother, Katie. As we know from reading the summary, there are three heiresses to the Melville fashion dynasty; there's Elizabeth who knows from the beginning that once her father retires Melville will be left to her. Then there's Amber, the picture of a spoiled rich girl who gets everything she wants until that one bad choice leaves her stranded. And then there is [...]

    27. This book starts with a prologue about Katie in London in 1974 and by the end of the prologue I was totally engrossed with the wonderful portrait of a lovely, maybe naïve, young woman who had fallen in love with a rich older married man, who was also her employer, and found she was pregnant with his child. On trying to let him know of her condition she was dismissed from her job with a note and a cheque saying he no longer wanted anything to do with her. Then the book started at chapter one aft [...]
