    1. A short and inspiring compilation, the words of Popes past and present (that is, until Pope Benedict XVI) offer a fresh look at several of the moving poems and hymns of the Psalter. It's short length and selection of excerpts provide a decent read, but it would almost be more fulfilling to read a much larger collection with a short commentary for each of the 150 (or 151) psalms.
