    One Reply to “Origins”

    1. As many others have stated, I am a huge fan of dystopian and zombie novels. This book falls under neither of those. SOOOO much of it was just unbelievable. First of all, if zombies were to appear, I can guarantee you it wouldn't be because a vaccine took away people's souls. That is almost the worst scenario I have ever heard of regarding a zombie outbreak. If the author had said they multiply when you get them wet, I probably would have believed that more.Second, when you are fighting for your [...]

    2. My rating 3.9The book “Origins (Zombie Games # 1)” by Kristen Middleton is a solid book about zombies and I read relatively fast. The book is well written and the characters are well elaborated. The story begins with the flu that is sweeping the world and by a vaccine they get sick. Unfortunately, the effect of the vaccine is disastrous because people who get it become zombies. The story is about Cassie, her family and friends. She is a regular seventeen-year-old, has a younger sister, her f [...]

    3. I would rate the spoilers (if you can call them that) in this review like a light sauce at a restaurant. I just want to state that I almost gave this one a 2 star rating but I looked at the other books that I rated 2 stars and I just couldn't do it. Those books at least made a little bit of sense. This book on the other hand didn't to me. I have a bunch of topics for this review so let's get started.First off, I will say that I enjoyed that the book didn't just start off with zombies. I mean it [...]

    4. I chose this book to read for my A-Z challenge and I was pleasantly surprised by the story since this was a free download for Kindle on . I expected this to be some cheesy Zombie story but it really wasn't, I liked the story a lot and it flowed very well.SynopsisSeventeen year old Cassandra Wild thought living in the chaos of her mother’s home daycare and dealing with her developing feelings for Bryce, her new Martial Arts’ instructor, was a struggle, until the night her world turned upside [...]

    5. This book was terrible! It sounds like it was written by a third grader, or an adult who was trying WAY too hard to sound like a teenager!! I mean who the hell tells a ZOMBIE to "scat"? One minute the characters a trying to sound "tough" or "risque" with no swearing then the next they're dropping the "F" bomb? Make up your freaking mind!!! Either use them or don't, but don't try to be tough and basically being like "golly gee, your naughty!" Suffice it to say I hated this book! Oh yeah, and anot [...]

    6. Okay, there was a lot of talk about how bad this book was and i got to say every one if full of bulls***!!!! This book was so cool and totally full of dead zombies, hot guys, and butt kicking main characters. I am so glad it was free on the kindle. Plus i am a major zombie fanatic!!!!! I love everything and anything about zombies, but i don't believe all the stuff about the apocalypse. But seriously yesterday i was outside after school waiting to be picked up and lots of people were sniffling, p [...]

    7. ZOMBIES! I do love a good zombie book quite often. But this, this wasn't just zombies. This was everything and more that I wanted. There was family trouble, love, DEATH, zombieseverything. What I loved the most was that there was a background to the "plague" and what life was like before, during and after it had begun, instead of launching into a world where it "just appears" or it's taken for granted that 'yep okay there's zombies'The main character though She sometimes was a bit, bland. Most o [...]

    8. 3.5 Don't get the flu shotThis was a good read for being free and read very quickly. The action was non-stop but I did find myself cringing a few times with some editing issues.

    9. lucky me i got this book for free on my kindle!! lets see if its any good._______________________________________________________________________________just finished this book and i actually really enjoyed it, one of the best zombies books i'v read yet. some of the main characters where a bit silly and immature but thats to be expected with their age so i didnt mind, the family seem'd a bit exaggerated but than i'v never had such a happy and well put to gether family like that so maybe its just [...]

    10. I picked this up because it was free on the NOOK and I am glad I did. I read this in a couple of days at work between phone calls and working on computers. It is well written and the characters are easily defined, and I mean that in a good way. You felt like you knew the characters almost from the start. I was a little worried about this book because it looked to be one of those teenie books like Twilight or in that ilk. While I love Jonathan Maberry's teen zombie series I am not quite ready to [...]

    11. The book is about this seventeen year old girl. Going throughtout a war of zombies. Her family and her get split apart and tring to find her family will be hard. On the way she finds some friends to help her find her family. Read the book so find out what happens. This book really got my attention could to stop reading at all. My brothers tried reading it but couldn't, they don't like horror as I do. The aurther who is Kristen Middleton wrote the book well it's good and all I think it just neede [...]

    12. This was a GoodReads First Reads book giveaway. I actually enjoyed this book. It is fast paced and full of action. The charactcers are believable despite the Zoombie population. This is why we have fiction. Readers will love the theme of this book and they will want to read a sequel to find out how this story ends. In my opinon this book is well written and entertaining. I would like to know how Bryce and Cassie end up when this is all over.

    13. DNF, CNF, WNFI gave it four chapters bit I'm pretty sure it died in the arse around 3 sentences in. The word zombies is in the title of the series, yet it starts with a dream beginning with an argument about taking out the trash and the leads in to a mysterious virus that is wiping out Europe. Cue interesting plot here? No! Run like heck from the convoluted cliche that is chasing you!

    14. I'm kind of embarrassed that I read this. I got it for free from Book Bub and was between books so I took a chance on it and and I can't say I was let down because I really wasn't expecting much. First of all if you are going to e-publish, make sure you get a competent editor.Second, the writing of this story is very juvenile. And third, the whole premise of this book made me kind of mad. I love zombie stories and though most of the origins of zombies are wholly unbelievable, I think this one tak [...]

    15. While very simplistic literary, grammar, character, and plot wise, books one and two of this series were a fair read if you like zombie action with a lot of dry humor. However, it turns to utter crap by book 3-4.Books one and two had a very weak, thin flu vaccine/ zombie outbreak plot. It didn't unfold very logically, and, yes, I do get that it's zombies But I do expect some degree of logic as to how it comes about, how people react, and all the shit that follows. The characters, and my God ther [...]

    16. I cant even start this review with anything more than, I am very relieved to not have spent money on this book. I bought it as a big bundle for about 40p(something like that) and so far the other books are fab. This one however, I am unsure about what chapter I stopped reading, but it was after some hot boy (I gather from the amount of description devoted to him) saved her friend(s)? and mother? Question marks are needed because I got a little confused from boredom. Now I gave this book a chance b [...]

    17. From what I can tell from the positive reviews this books received, those readers are only interested in individual factors like zombies or attractive guys and lust. Things like how all the factors of the story work together, the quality of the writing and editing, or the believability of the story aren't a priority to them. Good for them. The profanity in the beginning was annoying and unnecessary and I almost stopped after the first two chapters. Later I decided to power through it. There is n [...]

    18. The characters spent way too much time flirting, especially considering they just lost their loved ones and the world has gone to hell. The characters also lacked definition. I finished it ten minutes ago, and can't remember most of their names. However, it was free and it was just engaging enough that I didn't quit reading until the sudden ending. I would give it two stars for that if not for the completely ridiculous anti-vaccine message the author was pushing. The cause of the disease being a [...]

    19. I am glad that I didn't pay anything for this book, as it just didn't do anything for me, not that I am overly fond of the Zombie genre anyway. It all seemed rushed, ill thought out and very simplistic. The characters I couldn't get to grips with at all, they all seemed so false. The plot line didn't seem to follow any logic. This is only the first installment of 'Zombie Games', and I, for one, will not be searching out any of the other titles in the series. To be fair reading other reviews there [...]

    20. I suppose I was expecting something for more older audiences. Origins felt like it was written by a pre-teen for pre-teens. The action sequences lacked detail and were extremely short-lived, leaving me feeling as though the author added them only to remind you that there are zombies invading the townbut it's not all that scary because they can be dispatched within a moment's time.

    21. Atrocious spelling coupled with a super quick run down of the walking dead told badly with a pathetic protagonist and an even worse love interest. Needless violence without much point in the storyline Hack em down and spit em out.Nothing original about this book at all.

    22. I'll start the review by noting I'm a middle-aged dude and thus clearly not the target audience for a book like this. My opinions are probably not as important as the teenage female ones Kristen Middleton is targeting, so feel free to take my remarks with as many grains of salt as you feel necessary. There's a formula for teen fiction these days in that no matter what else is going on, the female lead is going to get caught up in a love triangle between two equally hot guys: one the hot-headed, r [...]

    24. Ok, i have to admitIt was quite cheesy, but i actually quite enjoyed it.It's like one of those cheap romance novels, but in zombie form.It was a nice quick read. it was funny at times (don't know if it was supposed to be), suspenseful, and of course, just the right amount of cheese.I liked the characters, especially Kristie. whenever Eva comes into a scene, you just want to beat the crap out of her, or chuck her out with the zombies.I think it's definitely worth a read if your in the mood for a [...]

    25. Predictable young romance story set in zombie apocalypseStory itself is rather bland, has the typical eponymous female lead along with the romance interest(s) and accompanying competition. Telegraphed story plots, paper-thin characters, this book is merely an introduction to what the author intends for a longer series. However this introduction has very little to make me want to continue the rest.

    26. Wow but mess upInteresting love zombie but can't see few guys been jerk expect that martial teacher been jerk to everyone especially to soldier who make promise to Cassie s mother to look after and told him don't need what matter with him it is mess up in zombie apocalypse time of need

    27. So this is a typical zombie book. Only, I did enjoy this one. I think I like it more because it's not a "zombies just appeared out of nowhere and no one knows how it started" kind of book. It tells how it started and what caused it along with the usual fight for survival story while trying to find all of your loved ones. I would recommend this to zombie lovers and paranormal romance fans.

    28. GreatRead and even better characters. This is actually the second time I've read this book and am planning on reading the entire series straight through. Great writing and great flow!
