    1. I came to this text as a complete novice to Egyptology. Parts were thus borderline incomprehensible for me at first; I would recommend that others who might be in a similar position do as I did and read it with close at hand!Obviously, there is the complication that this is a very dated text. In almost no other field (save arguably philosophy) would I countenance reading an introduction to a subject which is likely so out-of-date, yet I still actually feel I learnt a fair bit and enjoyed it.     2. This is an old late 18th early 19th century work. Very informative for the time and a good look at how archaeologists used to think. Much of the principles are still very valid. It's a good read for fun or for the amateur.
