    1. It was tough to decide on a rating for this book. The first hundred pages or so were, if I'm honest, a little difficult to get through. It's a first novel and you can almost feel the author finding his voice. Not to say there isn't plenty of good stuff - great characters, interesting settings, a growing sense of dread - but it's a little rough and I seriously wondered if it was all going to come together in the end. Multiple storylines, a little horror, a little thriller, a little prison drama - [...]
