    1. I majored in Electrical Engineering in college – a major that seemed logical for me since I was good at math and science and knew engineering could lead to a lucrative job.The only problem was that engineering was definitely not the career God was calling me to. That was youth ministry. It's a calling I fought hard. My senior year of college, I even remember commenting to my small group girls, “I think God's calling me to youth ministry, not engineering. But for that to happen, he's going to [...]

    2. I have to admit that as I began to read this book, it gave me a feelingof, how do I put this? Not fear exactly, not suspicion either. Just a wondering of, is it really wise the way he just seems to just jump into saying Yes? Then I gave a sigh of relief when he said that he always prays, talks to his wife, and has a few other trusted, seasoned people pray also. If no red flags go up, then he continues and says Yes. Now that is wisdom, and good counsel. There was one particular statement that the [...]

    3. I started off really liking it, but just couldn't finish. Maybe in another easier stage of life I'd like it more.

    4. The Medearis family have not had the easiest life, they have lived through some very challenging and life threatening situations. From Middle Eastern prisons, being kick out of a country multiple times, death threats, and more. But they did not let fear stop them. And through the book you get to see some of their interesting life stories. But this book is not only the stories of their life, but it is also a guild about stepping out and doing things in faith instead of standing by in fear.Even th [...]

    5. This review is also posted on Book by Book.Adventures in Saying Yes: A Journey from Fear to Faith by Carl Medearis is an inspiring and interesting book, rooted in personal experience and spiritual truths, about allowing faith in God to overcome any fear. Throughout the book, Medearis shares how his and his family’s lives have been influenced by simply being willing to say “yes” to God when an opportunity presents itself. His examples from life experiences, focusing on their years living in [...]

    6. Written by Carl Medearis about his family's real life adventures in saying "yes" to Jesus, I found this an interesting, thought provoking read from the beginning. The writing style is engaging and fun to read. Although mostly told by Carl, there are also parts written by his wife, Chris, and their three adult children. Not just about their unique life, this book encourages you to exchange fear for faith. I know I find it easier to be fearful rather than faithful. It's something that the Lord has [...]

    7. I wasn't sure what to expect when I received this book from Bethany House to review. I was worried it was going to be boring and dry. But I was so very wrong. The author Carl Medearis writes with such clarity and humor that it was so much fun to read his stories. I loved how sections were written also by his wife, and children. His work in the Lebanon and with the Arabs is amazing. His bravery to bring the gospel to such a dark place inspires my faith in the areas I know God has called me in. Rea [...]

    8. this is about the second or third book I read from carl medearis and I am as usual struck by his approach to Muslims. I love the way he makes friends with them and how he talks to them about Jesus. this book is about saying yes to Jesus and is also about not being afraid. I really enjoyed the encouragement and more than that the stories. I think we are both story hearers and some of us are born story tellers. he is one definitely. his stories touch my heart. I like his Jesus. you go Carl!

    9. This may not be a perfect book, but this weekend, it was perfect for me. My friend Carl boosted my faith and my desire to live a life of adventure with Jesus, partnering with him in conquering my fears and living with great love and courage.

    10. With captivating story telling and Jesus inspired boldness Carl Medearis (and family) share their experiences as Jesus followers in Lebanon. With each story, Medearis reveals that in saying yes to Jesus, fear loses its grip.

    11. 3.5 stars reallyIt was good, just not as good as say "let's be brave" or "in a pit with a lion on a snowy day" but still moving and convicting but not a favorite.
