    1. I think I would have enjoyed this trilogy immensely if the protagonist wasn't THE MOST UNLIKEABLE HERO EVER. There have been juvenile heroes, cocky heroes, too-good-to-be-true heroes that I've struggled to identify with (or simply care about) over the years but Marik truly takes the prize. Arrogant, mouthy, ungracious, irresponsible, always grumpy, intentionally uneducated, meanI spent the first book hoping he'd grow up, the first half of the second hoping for a tragedy that would force another [...]
