    1. took me probably a whole chapter to 'get' the voice of this author and to grasp what was going on, but once I didI was HOOKED! At the heart of this book is the question that every responsible parent has wondered: how far would you go to protect your child? The story follows the main character, Ben Cain and the aftermath of his son Lucas being taken. He runs the gambit of being the first suspect to becoming the only one connecting the dots of the investigation. He refuses to back down on finding [...]

    2. Candy From a Stranger by Daryl Buckner (ISBN 9780692355282)Daryl Buckner has penned a novel that hits home with anyone who is a parent or loves a small child. The horror of losing a child to abduction is certainly one of the biggest fears any parent holds. Buckner has done a wonderful job bringing us into this horror and allowing us to experience it through his main character, Ben Cain.Ben Cain lives with the horror of having lost his 8-year-old son, Lucas, to an unsolved abduction, which he bla [...]

    3. I was given an arc copy of this book by NetGalley in return for an honest review:I give it a 5starYou know when you start a book and it grips you like a vice around the neck, you can hardly breathe, well this was like that. Ben Cain is sent to the edge with the loss of his son Lucas. Kidnapping of a child is every parents worst nightmare yet it happened to Ben!!! The strain on his marriage causes a split, his wife takes off and leaves him, he hits the bottle hard, loses his job and the lead dete [...]

    4. Ben's son disappeared about a year ago, and he's obsessed about it, his wife left him, he lost his jobs, the police doesn't seem to be doing anything to find Lucas. when other little boys keep disappearing he decides to take matters into his own hands, and it kind of make him looks guilty.Well I was expecting this book to be better, it was alright but it didn't " WOW" me or anything. Just a normal kidnapping story, not really any mystery to it since you pretty much know all along who the kidnapp [...]

    5. Just noticed I had not reviewed this novel on , which is strange because this is my favorite of Daryl Buckner's novels! I am not normally a fan of sci-fi, but Jonah of Earth is suspenseful sic-fi with heart. I was hooked from the beginning where the author grabs the reader's attention on the first page with the scene in the Washington fishery, and the story takes off. It is an original tale, moves quickly. This story begs for a sequel, and I'm anxiously awaiting .

    6. Quite a strange book this one . Thought the killer/ killers were found out too easy . The story line was very good but it didn't grab me too muchDon't remember reading this and didn't leave a review . Maybe got mixed up with some one else
