    1. almost 3-1/2 starsme genuinely creepy moments and building of atmospheree prose style is nice and clean and easy to read the main flaws I found were the climax, a little long in buildup and some of the dialogue seemed stilted and flat.

    2. I must say I don't have the words for this book. What an absolute phenomenal Horror story!!! I was totally blown away by the author's style of writing. It has its own unique quality that keeps your heart racing and sitting on the edge of your seat, and it is written in a way that its acceptable for teens to read. It's a phenomenal read that kept me guessing about the ghosts of the Lighthouse. The story was so well written, the book actually called to me as if it was taunting me and calling my na [...]

    3. platypire/j-hooligan/tI was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I've read a few other books (Moonflower and both Angus MacBain) by this author, so I jumped at the opportunity to review this when CTP made it available. It's a fast read, and it's interesting. I really enjoyed how everything and everyone was connected. The author is great at folklore in her stories, and it is one of the reasons why I love her stories so much.Unlike her other stories I had no emotional reactio [...]

    4. I should not have started this book in the middle of the night. I always begin my reading well into what most would call early morning, as this is the most peaceful time of my day, however, that peace was quickly disrupted in the best way possible. From the very first paragraph, Angela J Townsend managed to transport me to not only another place, but another time. It was a time where peril was prevalent and truth was torn asunder. The eerie beginnings of this work leapt off of the page only to d [...]

    5. I loved the setting of this book! Tom accepts a job making repairs to an old historic lighthouse and the surrounding buildings. The island is haunted. Tom does not scare easily, and he is desperate for the money. The author does a wonderful job describing the rocky, remote area and the small fishing village that is the nearest settlement. The tension escalates as the mystery of the lighthouse is slowly revealed. Tom picks up clues, and begins to understand the blighted history of the place. As th [...]

    6. I received a free copy of this book via Clean Teen Publishing Elite Reviewers which I am a member of. I made no guarantee of a favorable review. If you are looking to read a book that will creep you out then look no further because this one will do just that. There's even a scene in the story that had me quickly getting out of the bathtub and I LOVED it!!!This is horror and supernatural at its extreme best. The author's unique and creative story telling ensnares you from the very beginning and th [...]

    7. This was an amazing read and I couldn't put the book down! The flow of the story keeps your attention locked on every word. It felt like I couldn't read the words fast enough and my mind craved for the next sentence, next page, next chapter. Angela Townsend's other books are all well written and suspenseful, and The Forlorned will not disappoint you. THIS IS A MUST READ for those who love a well written story with the perfect amount of thrill and suspense. I can't wait until her second novel in [...]

    8. Incredible! I've been looking forward to this book for a while now, and I got the book yesterday. I couldn't wait to sit down and read it (unfortunately I had to work). This book had a very rich plot, with twists and turns that were unexpected yet logical. Easy to follow, but hard to predict. I had high expectations for this book. This is the book you should read if you want an intellectually stimulating and engaging horror story, that is still accessible to young adult readers. If it comes out [...]

    9. DisappointingWhat a shame,a great idea poorly written, the characters were so thinly written, you felt nothing for any of them and the love story was toe curling bad. Wanted to like this ,read peter James the house on cold hill, for a properly written ghost story. No more Angela Townsend for me

    10. This novel was absolutely TERRIFYING. I couldn't put it down, and I know I'm not the only one! I read it at night, and I jumped whenever my housemate's cat made noise. I've now read it at least three times. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good scary read, but I wouldn't read it home alone again. I learned that lesson the hard way.

    11. A fisherman dreams of becoming his own captainThrough love and courage, many people have survived. This wonderful story brings you to the edge of your seat ! Well done you may find a little something about yourself before you're putting this book down.

    12. Captivating gripping and scared me A wonderfully written imaginative book that genuinely scared me. An eloquent style of writing that spun a captivating tale. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it on my daily commute to and from work

    13. This book's premise was down right enticing to me. Pirates, curses and ghosties, oh my! An exciting and thrilling read, The Forlorned is action packed and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Personally, I wouldn't categorize it as horror; I'd put it more toward the paranormal genre. Everything unfolds exactly as I imagined a haunting would in an old lighthouse damned by spirits of the past. The main characters were endearing and had great backstories to put them right where they should be fo [...]

    14. This book was amazing! Even better in my opinion to her other book River Of Bones. This book is a creep factor all over! Wow! My mind kept worrying what was at the freaking island! What is harming him! Will he get harmed? What is the history and how will this book end!?!? So many emotions, so many times I would have been screaming if I had been in the Main Males POV. I WILL buy book two when it releases! Please buy this woman's book! Ms. Townsend is an amazing author! (Also if you read this book [...]

    15. Just watched the movie of this story on Prime, and it was pretty interesting. Saw in the end credits that that it was based off this book, so, might be worth a read maybe.

    16. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I reviewed this book in conjunction with a blog tour through Juniper Grove Book Solutions. This book was amazing! I almost left my review as just that, because really that’s all you need to know… but, I’ll give a little more than that. This book has just the perfect amount of suspense and horror mixed together. It’s full of twists and turns; many of them [...]

    17. In my quest for a good ghost story to read for Halloween, I happened upon this book. It has a fairly decent rating so I thought I'd give it a try. It's a ghostly tale about a young man who agrees to do some construction work on an isolated lighthouse island off the coast of Nova Scotia. He's trying to earn money to buy his own fishing boat so that he and his dad can go back to what they love, fishing. None of the locals will take the job because they've grown up with stories about how the island [...]

    18. *We received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review @ The Reader's Hollow*There's plenty of creepy, ghostly moments that reminded me a bit of novels like "Woman in Black" or movies like "The Others". I was happy that no two hauntings were the same and I think ghost story fans will get a thrill out of the spooks and the mystery. There's nautical tid-bits here and there, and I found that part to be fun to learn about. I'm a prairie girl, so ocean communities are like stepping into a [...]

    19. ***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.***Let me start off by saying that I had no idea this book was horror. I signed up based solely on my opinion of the cover. I thought, "Hmm, this looks interesting," and signed up. It wasn't until someone else's review popped up in my Facebook news-feed that I realized it was horror. Mind you, this was in the middle of the night the first night I was reading the book. I quickly realized the genre on my own shortly after the prolo [...]

    20. Oh my goodness! I just LOVED this book! I couldn't put it down. I must admit this is one of my favorite genre's so of course I loved it right?! This book grabbed me right from the get go. I mean hook, line, and sinker. I loved Tom and how he needs to be the hero of this book. The Prolog of the book got me! Ugh! The writing was fantastic. I did not feel it should be in the horror genre and also they say it should be for kids 13+ I'm not sure why this should be. I did not find it scary at all. But [...]

    21. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.I had chills from the first page. The descriptive language was spot on and enough of the story was revealed to leave me in suspense. The characters drew me in and I wanted Tom to leave the island. I could not read this right before bed.I would have liked to see more development between Tom and Janika to solidify their deep connection. The ending wrapped everything up and left no loose ends, however I felt it was rushed in the last c [...]

    22. The Forlorned is full of suspense, horror, and creepy things that’ll have you double-checking your doors and windows to make sure they’re locked! Tom is such a nice guy and has no idea what he’s getting into. But the more he learns, the more he’s determined to unravel the haunting mystery that plagues the island. I can’t wait to see where Angela Townsend takes this in a series, and I’m looking forward to the movie! Great thrill ride. :-)

    23. I am so so disappointed with this book!! I have enjoyed this authors other work, but this felt like it was written by someone else! The characters were dreary, absolutely no development whatsoever, the dialogue, at times, was so ridiculous that I was rolling my eyes a lot, and the overall atmosphere wasn't as scary as I wanted it to be. This could have been really good, but it fell very flat.

    24. Creepy good fun!Know what is creepier than a haunted house? A haunted light house beats one every creepy time! This one's a winner. Read it before it gets dark and the fog rolls in. Shiver me timbers!

    25. Don't botherDialog contrived and repetitive. Story line weak. Characters shallow. Best character was the cat. The prologue had me hoping, but yeah.
