    1. The Good: I think the sci-fi is strong and interesting. Xia’s backstory is heartbreaking and the worldbuilding is fascinating. There’s alot of detail but I didn’t feel overwhelmed by it at all. There is a glossary but I think alot of the terms are clear in the context of the story. It's the second in the series, and while I hadn't read the first book, it didn't affect my enjoyment of this one. If anything, I'm curious how I'd feel towards that first book, since I like the world. The Bad and [...]

    2. Originally published at Sci-Fi Romance QuarterlyBad Kitty is the direct followup to Thrill-Kinky. And while it helps in understanding the world of the space-freighter Malcolm to read both books, I think it would be possible to read Bad Kitty without reading Thrill-Kinky first. On the other hand, why would you? These are short bursts of Firefly-type fun, and the worldbuilding gets deeper the further in you go.Where Thrill-Kinky was mechanic Rita’s story, Bad Kitty is felinoid Xia’s journey. Wh [...]

    3. I was right! After reading Thrill-Kinky, I knew I was going to enjoy the heck out of this series and Roberts certainly delivered with Bad Kitty. Reuniting with the crew of the Malcolm, this installment focuses on Xia, the felinoid adopted daughter of Mik and Gan, and we find out who she was before they rescued her as a kitten. I must say, it wasn’t at all what I expected and it made for a rather exciting and twisting plot as Xia becomes the “target” of more than just the assassin she thwar [...]

    4. Previously reviewed on The Good, The Bad, and The Unread:I love space opera stories that feature truly alien characters, and this series is delivering them in droves, so much so that some readers may find it hard to keep up. Not only do the aliens in this universe look different to the humans who encounter them, their basic characteristics, morals, and beliefs are very unlike ours as well. After the first book, I was probably most keen to learn more about Xia, the cat-like alien on the Malcolm [...]

    5. This is the second books in the Chronicles of the Malcolm, but don't let the series put you off. I haven't read the first in the series but I didn't have any trouble following the characters or overarching storyline. The author has done a nice job of dripping in backstory where necessary without regurgitating the entire first book.I loved the characters (both central and secondary) and think the strength of this story is the way the "felinoids" playfulness is characterized and carried through th [...]

    6. "5 out of 5 stars! On the run from a few assassins, Xia and her Malcolm crew “family” take refuge on a crime-ridden planet with its warlord Rahal. While Xia’s instant attraction to Rahal is undeniable, what really surprises her is their chemistry and how she is willing to do spend more than one night with him. Yet it’s not only Rahal that has stolen her attention, an arms dealer called Karn “the Viking” Anders has too.Karn’s actual name is Cal and whose job is private law enforceme [...]

    7. A fun, sexy, exciting scifi story. Featuring all kinds of aliens and planets. I enjoyed Xia's story more than Rita's. Can't wait for the next volume.Bought from kobo.
