    1. I actually read this in February but hadn't been able to find it on here until now. I received an e-arc of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. In no way does this affect my review. I absolutely adored this book! I found myself unable to stop turning the pages and blew right through it! Such an excellent fantasy story with amazing characters you can't help but love! And considering the amount of fantasy books I read, it's quite something that this one was quite unlike any [...]

    2. for a first book I am pretty impressed! J.M. Storin had a idea and she turned that idea into a story that people all over can now read. what an accomplishment that readers all around wish to do. so good job, I'm very impressed. As for the story itself I felt like there could have been a bit more editing involved. A lot of scenes were very typical for fantasy novels. (and then everything went black, the chosen one, having someone bail you out of prison, etc.) Most of the time the dialogue between [...]

    3. What an adventure! The world building was fantastic, and the creatures that Briana was faced with throughout were so intriguing. I honestly think they may have been my favorite part of this book.I can also now add Briana Mathias to my list of kickass heroines in YA fantasy. She develops much through this story, and I cannot wait to see where this takes her in future installments. The last few chapters had me on edge. There was one scene in particular where I actually screamed, because I was so s [...]

    4. 3.5This was such a great first book by J. M. Storin! I really enjoyed the plot and the characters, and I can't wait to learn more about the world that Brian lives in. The world building was really well done - I hope that there will be a map coming one day! If anything, the writing needed a little more descriptive language describing characters actions and looks, otherwise the description of locations was very well done. But overall, I think Storin did a really great job on her first novel.

    5. I've gotta say, this book had me hooked from the beginning. Briana's character was strong and brave and throughout the book I admired her, BUT my favourite character was one that she met along her journey, I don't want to say who as I don't want to spoil the story, but she was sassy and funny. I also loved how the friendships grew stronger throughout the book. This book isn't written in first person which I'm not used to reading, but J.M.Storin writes it perfectly so I was absolutely captured by [...]

    6. J.M. Storin is an Instagram/Bookstagram friend and I have been looking forward to reading this. I really enjoyed this book! The plot was really well-thought-out and everything flowed nicely. The writing is quick and to the point; there aren't any dragging paragraphs like you often find in fantasy books (sorry not sorry). I am interested to see where the story goes from here (if it continues?). I feel like it took a second for the book to find its footing (which is totally normal and this is an u [...]

    7. I'm going to say it's a 4.5*, mostly just so I can have the chance to rate the sequel even higher when it's released, because I have high hopes for this series!I was pleasantly surprised by just how unique this book feels. From the characters through to the plot, everything felt different and fresh. Yes, it’s a fantasy book, and you can identify similarities here and there, as with every book, but I really love the idea of all the individual tribes having a genetic advantage to their respectiv [...]

    8. for a complete and unedited review of this, check out my blog, DeerTalesThe Paladin is a fantasy novel, written in a quest like format. While the book moved really quickly, the pacing of felt almost “video-game-esque” to me. Video games? Syd, really? Bear with me here people, I am about to explain! Yes, there was a distinct end point in which the main character, Briana, is aiming towards, but all of the other events in the book are not really fleshed out to make it seem more than a “level [...]

    9. I picked this book up the BookCon and met the author there as well. She was very very nice and had actually sold all of her books! The book was described to me as sort of a Throne of Glass feel. I was a little nervous about it because I am not that big of a Throne fan (not even really sure why - just wasn't my taste). The story picks up with Briana on a hunt for the dangerous mongres. She's a very capable, even tempered girl with an amazing hunting ability. She was part of a tribe called the Hun [...]

    10. rating 4.5 out of 5 stars. Absolutely an amazing book! My review with be on my blog later this week!

    11. I really wish had half stars as this was more of a 3.5 star book for me. I very much enjoyed this story and its characters. As this is J.M. Storin's first book it was bound to have some flaws but none of them bothered me too much. I believe with a bit of reworking the story it could be a great book. I love the use of flashbacks as I have rarely come across this and I believe it was very well done and really helped build Briana as a believable and loveable character.I really loved Briana and how [...]

    12. I found out about this book on Instagram. I follow book lovers as well as writers and the author's account is both. I was lucky enough to get in on the exciting journey before the book was published and then I bought it on the Paladin's book birthday. Let's go with all the positives first: This book is a fast read for a few reasons. One, the narration is easy to follow and is always moving forward. There are a few dream sequences and back story but for the most part, the story goes along at a ni [...]

    13. I read this book awhile ago, but now finally found the time to write down my thoughts about it.So, here we goI love this fantasy world created by J.M. Storing!! I REALLY felt like I was there through every challenges Briana had to go through But what I loved even more was the way her world was building up. The way JM wrote it, knowing perfectly how to help one's mind visualizing the amazing, dangerous, mindblowing world of Briana Mathias. One's imagination really have to be great for bringing suc [...]

    14. this beautiful author introduce us in the world of THE PALADIN, a world where the people are divided into tribes and abilities, Briana our protagonist is brave and she make her own decision and choices, i do love this character, you'll really see the character development as you read the book, and YES, you'll really see because of its fast pace of the story. i do love this book because of how the diversity of it, and my heart really touched by briana's story, i learned something, i will not tell [...]

    15. Very interesting world and story. The main character of Briana is well fleshed out and very relatable, as are the supporting characters. I greatly enjoyed the concept of the Tribes and their attributes. Hopefully the history of the world will be more prominent in future installments. Parts of the world seem incomplete and at times the story seemed rushed, as if it would have benefited from more time and depth. It read like a script for a movie, or TV series, driven mostly by action. It is a movi [...]

    16. I really did enjoy this book! It was a very fast paced story, which was nice considering I've been in a reading slump this month. Another thing I really enjoyed was the detail that went into the more minor aspects of the story. The description of the different housing for each tribe was really interesting and well thought out. Even minor characters were very well developed and I felt like I was able to connect with them. I also enjoyed the use of flashbacks throughout the story, and the way we l [...]

    17. First of all, I want to personally thank the author, Jessica Storin, for the signed copy of The Paladin! So far, it is the only signed book that I own and I'm glad it's from such a sweet and brilliant author.I had been excited to follow Briana along through her journey as soon as my copy of the book came in the mail. I'm not usually one to read YA fantasy novels, but I am always for supporting aspiring authors and will jump at every opportunity to read a debut novel! Luckily enough, the premise [...]

    18. THE PALADIN, by J. M. Storin is by far one of my favourite reads of 2016. This thrilling fantasy novel succeeded in capturing my attention from the first page, promising to be full of fast-paced action, and it did not disappoint. The story follows young Briana Mathias, the only surviving member of the Hunter Tribe. Briana has felt like an outsider for a long time, but when her precious stone (handed down to her through her family) is stolen by the vicious leader of The Empire, Briana finds hersel [...]

    19. Overview: "Briana Mathia is a Hunter, or at least she used to be, and she carries a secret -- a powerful, one-of-a-kind stone that makes her invincible. After a ruthless and sinister Empire discovers her secret, they steal the stone away from her. In the wrong hands, this stone could be the demise of the world as she knows it and the rise of a much darker future.Briana will stop at nothing to get back what belongs to her, and along the way she will meet friends, enemies, and discover a truth she [...]

    20. I heard about this book through instagram/bookstagram and i was very excited to read it. Plus the cover is awesome I was hooked from the beginning, it was fast paced and to the point and it all fitted well. The story is easy to follow. The world building was fantasic and i liked all the different creatures that Brianna meets on her journey. I would have liked a map of the world or a chart of the different tribes.Brianna really develops through out the story. You can tell how strong she is but ho [...]

    21. I love this book. It was so good. I loved the creativity that went into the world building. I wish there was a map to go along with the story. All of the different creatures were so cool. And I loved that each chapter had a title hinting at what was coming. This book maintained its pace from start to finish. There was never a dull moment for me, something was always happening. The ending! Yikes! I loved it. At first I was screaming and now I just can't wait for the next book.I loved the main cha [...]

    22. I found this novel interesting! I know it's getting edited and republished so I'm interested to see what changes. Right now it seems that the main character is a bit of a "Mary Sue" and I kept wanting more depth of character especially since it's so heavily focused on Briana. Also the setting and time era is pretty hazy - vaguely medieval/feudalistic but some terms threw me, like "commuter". I suppose that this word has a long history but it seems so contemporary to me. Overall though I definite [...]

    23. This was a good book but mostly just "Okay".Some things I didn't like-I feel like the dialogue and characters lacked. The journey was constantly referred to as being really long but when weeks pass at a time it seemed to go pretty quick. However-The stone that makes you invincible is really neat, I hope to learn more about it. I really liked the idea of all these tribes with different abilities. Several of the places that were mentioned seemed really cool and places I would like to visit ;) I ho [...]

    24. I really enjoyed this book! I read it in one day because there wasn't a single page that I felt ready to set the book down. The characters were interesting and the plot was exciting and unpredictable. I would definitely recommend this as a YA novel. I'm excited to follow Briana as she continues through this story and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

    25. The author is good at making you feel the emotions of the heroine of this book. It was one of those books that is hard to put down once you get past the first chapter. I needed a little more resolution toward the end, but I am sure only because there may be another book. over all I enjoyed it. and i am sure my daughters will as well

    26. Super fun and fast paced read with great world building! I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I finished!

    27. Will give a proper review later but just so you know guys, this book is so entertaining! I love it.
