    1. The is a masterful work which exposes the color prejudices that has long forged a chasm in the African-American community since the days of slavery. It challenges the reader to look deep to understand the self hate that is often manifested in a misdirected fury poured out on others, specifically on those we should love most and calls the question can white America understand and appreciate the difficulty of what it is to walk miles daily in a black man's shoes.
