    One Reply to “Blood Beast”

    1. 4.5Well, that's annoying. Apparently I reviewed the first four, and then the sixth, seventh, and eighth before reviewing the fifth. Reviewer fail = confusion city for me. I'll try to keep it straight but this review will likely be short. Such a shame since it's the highest rating I've given the series.Blood Beast again focuses on series regular Grubbs, who is back with a recovering Dervish. Interwoven with demonata storyline is teenager trouble via high school and the social circle that inevitab [...]

    4. Blood Beast offered a very different Grubs to me, the once sensitive boy who vitnessed his family beign slaughtetered by demons seemed to vanish beneath a more mature but certainly not as friendly and open teenager who has better things to be thinking about such as his new best friends and girls, that is until he begins to notice the side affects of the family curse - Lycanthopy. I liked this book, but it wasn't the on same level as the previous books. I began to dislike Grubs's attitude and his [...]

    5. 3 stars for the Demonata. Yup. Keep on killing!*cracks knuckle*To put it in a few linesGrubbs Grady loves Reni Gossel.Dervish Grady loves Juni Swan.Nishanth Anchan loves someone else.End of story. This was not what I expected in a Demonata book. 90%- NO GORE!First half is filled with boyfriend, girlfriend thingy. Kissing (I prefer strangling) and stuffeGrubbs is considered mentally mental. A psychyatrist called Misery something tests him. Grubbs yells at him. CUT.Sleepover at Grubbs' Manison. Coo [...]

    6. I never gave any Darren Shan's book less than 4 stars but Blood Beast leaves me no choice. The writing-style is poor as Shan attempts to write such ordinary or even PTSD situations when it is too late to bring about teenage crush, merely a child's death (not that I'm cruel but why do I have to care so much about Loch with like more than 100 pages describing how Grubb feels so lost after encountering him dying? Don't you think it's a bit awkward and out of place?) plus about the used plot device; [...]

    7. wow.wowWOWmy god, that ending is the most ive ever feared for a literary character, definitely the biggest cliffhanger of the series to date. ive read this book copping alot of flack because it is slower than the others so far, grubs is spending time developing emotionally and having problems in his own life. and i say good for you Darren Shan to slow the pace down a bit and let us know more about the daily life of Grubs and his friends, its a good change of pace, whilst we know there will be mo [...]

    8. With this book we’re once again back to finding out the story of Grubbs.Again Grubbs is developing as a character, although for completely different reasons to those in prior books. Another well-paced book in the series, keeping you hooked from start to end. Moreover, this one ends on a cliff-hanger being part of two books which run one after another unlike the prior books in the series which seem to jump about in time a bit (unless you have read them in chronological order).

    9. This is the first book in the Demonata series that I didn't particularly like. Darren Shan books are usually characterized by their fast moving plots, their inventive gore and lots of magical fighting. Blood Beast doesn't have any action until the very end. Most part the story is about Grubbs going through the motions of teenage life, while worrying about not so teenage problems on top of that. He might have the family curse; he might turn into a werewolf.I didn't like Grubbs's teenage problems. [...]

    10. I really didn't care for the way Grubbs treated Bill-E, especially since he refused to ever take any responsibility for what he could have done to help him out. Teenagers do have power over one another, and he could have done a lot more than stand around and watch Loch's actions. Also, since so much time was taken to show Loch as this horribly unlikable person, I really didn't care when he died. I felt bad for Bill-E, and had a few times when I wondered if Bill-E had actually pushed Loch, but th [...]

    11. Blood BeastBy: Darran Shan272 pagesISBN13: 9780007231324 Grubbs keeps having nightmare about demons and his sister, who was killed by demons, trying to kill him. Everytime he wakes up from his nightmare, he is always experiencing some magical moment. Grubbs had made alot of friends and decided to throw a party one day after his uncle, Dervish, left. That same night, he had woken up in the bathroom, only to realize that he was howling like a werewolf.Darren Shan has done a great job with his book [...]

    12. I read this book in a couple of hours, which is special, because usually it takes me a couple of days to read the books by Darren Shan. I think the more further you get into the story and into the series, you'll enjoy reading it more and more. For example: I had never read a book by Darren Shan before I read Lord Loss, so it took me a couple of days to finish the book. After reading the second and third book, I got into the Demonata series, so I read the other books in less than a day. I can't wa [...]

    13. 3.5 Stars I could have given this book a much lower score just because of the ending. Or let me clarify this statement as by the lack of AN ending. If I did not already have book 6 in hand, I would have been extremely put out. This fantastic installment in what has become a favorite series of mine, ends right in the middle of the big scene. To make matters worse, the horrid three words were used.To be continued.Well, just like the book I want to share with you my love for the series, the author, [...]

    14. OMG, the best cliff-hunger ever!!! And everything was quite predictable and that kept the chills long and fresh! After Bec, I thought there would be nothing more gore and gross infectedess I was wrong, and as on cue, Lord Loss has to be the "star"!!!One thing about this series I'm anxious about is that, if there is a movies gonna be hard to watch!!

Bože, proč mi to děláš? Okamžitě potřebuju další díl!

    16. I thought that this book is very rich in suspension and I also liked that it had some little fragments of hummor at certain parts of the book. The thing recomend is that there is a few more pages to tell you more why juni turned evil at the last few minutes of the book.

    17. Nebyl by to Shan, kdyby to nejlepší nenechal až na konec. Přesto se nějak nemůžu přinutit k tmu dát knize 5*.

    18. I don't know why I forgot this book and everything that happened in it after I read it the first time because this book is AMAZING. It's a perfect mixture of the horror and suspense that we've had from the first 4 books in this series and teenage drama and angst and commentary that Darren does so so well.Again, as with Bec, lots of things we've learned and seen happen in previous books either come into play or we at least see them mentioned in passing or Darren gives us subtle hints that could l [...]

    19. Grubbs and Bill-E are my favourite characters in this series so I was glad to have them back. They were both pretty different in this book though. Their relationship has changed and both are dealing with everything they've been through, I found these changes really interesting. They weren't the only characters acting strangely at times either, almost every character did. There was quite a bit of school and romance stuff as well which I normally don't like but it wasn't too bad here. It wasn't re [...]

    20. I loved Bec, which could easily be read as a standalone, so it took me a while to gather the courage to pick up book 5 in this series, knowing I'd be going back to the continuing adventures of Grubbs. You see: I do not like Grubbs most of the time. He's a self centered little jerk. He's friends with those who are useful to him instead of being friends for who they are. And he is telling himself and the reader that is ok, because all kids act like that. I can tell you: no, not all kids are like th [...]

    21. I really think Grubbs and Dervish were stupid to trust Juni so readily. She appears a few weeks later knowing more magic than the both of them and they simply accept it?I also really hope that the reader is supposed to know that the bum is not a Lamb but is Beranabus. Oh well, I'm looking forward to finding out why Grubbs is different from the rest of his family when it comes to being a werewolf.

    22. This book is one of my least favourite of the series, however it is still worth reading. It continues after the events of slawter and follows Grubbs Grady's day to day life of being a teenager, dealing with the aftermath of what has happened to him and a possible new threat of a change in himself.

    23. I was scared for Grubbs life. I want hold him in my arm and console him. Juni is a BITCH and I really want to skin her alive and burn her!!!!

    24. Lycanthtopy, kutukan yang menimpa garis darah keluarga Grubss. Entah sejak kapan.

    25. Unleash the monsterAnd yet another punch to the gut! Blood Beast is a smashing read. It's still as potent as the first time I read it. We're back with Grubbs in the modern world, and boy are things steaming up there, in all the worst ways. You can just feel and taste that something massive is on the horizon, and this entry to the series beats down our characters to the point where even the reader is doubtful if they'll be able to face the coming darkness. With sharp plotting and ever-evolving ch [...]

    26. Eh, 3.5 stars. It was better than Slawter, but not by much. This book and Slawter were merely stepping stones for Demon Apocolypse, the 6th book, where I think something is actually going to happen. I hated how this book ended in a stupid cliffhanger. Really? Why didn't you just combine Blood Beast with Demon Apocolypse? But I guess that's the point of a series. I still say that Grubbs's plotline should have been left alone after Lord Loss, but I can't fully judge that until I've completed the s [...]
